The Justin Garbinksi Request Post

I have been really busy lately with the rebranding, new name, communication plan, style guide, new website, and fall series planning at my church. Because of this my blog has suffered. Every once in a while you need a friend to come along and remind you who you are and why you blog to get you going again. My dear Polish friend (and financial advisor pro bono) Justin Garbinski was that friend with his recent comment on my last post.

This post is a response to his comments and will serve as a brief appetizer of the things he listed… I am calling it the Justin Garbinski Request Post (or JGRP). In future days and weeks, I will try to expand on most of these, but for now here is what you can expect:

Celebrity Foreclosures
I file the following into two categories, “How can they not afford that?” and “I don’t feel sorry for them… I just don’t.” Included here are mob wife, Victoria Gotti, former ‘Nawlins mayor and loud mouth Ray Nagin, former NBA star and cannibal Latrell Sprewell, and my favorite, Stephen Baldwin.

Anything relating to christian music and worship
In grossly generalized terms that aren’t taking into account a few exceptions… it sucks and at it’s core is greedy men trying to commercialize spirituality and make a buck by pimping out the name of Jesus on records. More on this later.

Videos of puppies, kittens, or [cute] babies
Here you go Justin, you sicko.

Maybe something about the upcoming Maple Ash show at Last Exit July 3rd
There is a Maple Ash show on July 3 at Last Exit. The drummer rocks. Don’t miss it.

Movie and book reviews. and album reviews, etc
I have a lot more on this, but for now, read Surprised by Hope by NT Wright and listen to Phoenix.

More videos of your son[s] playing drums
Just in case you missed it the first time…

Thank you.

Let me start by saying I am honored. Its not everyday you get your name in the headlines on one of the most popular blogs in queen creek.

The best part of this post was Eli rocking out on drums. I especially like the swing 8ths. You should talk to CJ about getting him in the rotation at SSCC.

Celebrity foreclosures are fun. Remember when Steven Baldwin spoke at that big church in Chandler? I think that was back when I was living with Ryan Guard in a condemned house on church property. I would want to hang out, have fun, and play drums all day. And he would just sit in his room with the door shut reading and studying christian theology and things that have no eternal significance. I’m glad I was able to use that season to help Ryan get his life on track.

I would like to post something in agreement to your comment about christian music and worship, but CJ is way smarter than me (and you) and would post something that made my comment look stupid.

In Conclusion, I’m happy that you’re returning to your roots with this blog. May this be the first of many posts to come. (and Bruno’s idea of comical top ten lists is good too)

Love you man.

Mark

Justin I would like to thank you for getting Nick back on track, because now I have something to do at work. I like how Eli is so litieral in how he uses the kick drum, maybe one day he will have a peddle to use.

I say you do a top ten list of your favorite blog responses followed by a top ten list of things Justin Garbinski has tried to bet you on.

I read “Wild at Heart” (and LOVED it) while I was living at that house. What did I know…

daaaanng.. you son has some talent on the drums..
